May 5th marks 25 years on Abbot Kinney for Burro and boy, it’s a real humdinger out there! When I first started out, I pulled up a chair and sat in front of this building for three days. I counted how many people walked by and wondered if it would be possible to open a gift store on an otherwise sleepy street. Would the neighbors stop in? I had big dreams and didn’t know a thing about retail.

For each of you, I am beyond grateful. I am humbled truly and in awe. I have seen places come and go, children grow into adults and am still delighted to bump into regulars from back in the day. I have seen the chains move in and little guys get pushed out, but I am still standing, and I want to say with grit that I welcome all entrepreneurs to keep on keeping on. Thank you for supporting me. I love what I do. So let’s raise a glass to Burro, the hardworking Burro that it is, and please let there be fun and joy in work and more entrepreneurs bringing new and exciting dreams to fruition.
